Teach English the Yorkshire Way
The Teach English the Yorkshire Way resources have been developed by MESH to support ESOL providers, tutors and volunteers in delivering engaging, locally relevant learning. Using real-life themes, services and opportunities from across Yorkshire and Humber, these resources help learners develop their English language skills while building confidence to participate in their communities, access essential services and progress towards their personal goals.
This collection brings together a range of teaching materials, including lesson plans, presentations, films, worksheets and teaching notes, covering topics such as healthcare, employment, volunteering, childcare, local services, progression pathways and learning beyond the classroom. While rooted in the Yorkshire and Humber context, many of the activities and approaches can be adapted for use with ESOL learners in other regions.
